July 21st Board of Commissioners Meeting

On Tuesday, July 21st at 6:00 pm, the Swansboro Board of Commissioners will be holding their monthly meeting at the Town Hall. There will be two opportunities for towns people to speak – one regarding items on the agenda, one for all other issues.

The first item of Business to be discussed is a concern to SACRED. During Wednesday July 15th’s Special Meeting and Workshop it was proposed that “In an attempt to limit disruptions during meetings, staff recommends minor changes to the BOC Policy #4 Public Comments at Meetings.” They are asking that those wishing to speak with the aid of handouts or presentations be required to submit them to the Town 24 hours in advance. This is not always possible and to require it may limit an individual to make his or her point effectively. We feel giving them a hard copy of the presentation prior to beginning the meeting would be a good compromise.

It is rumored that those in favor are planning to show up as well. We need to continue be a major presence, as always, to show that we are not backing down in our mission to stop the Walmart being built in the planned location and to assure transparency not and in the future. See you Tuesday in your favorite white shirt!
